{"id":33052,"date":"2022-10-13T12:00:02","date_gmt":"2022-10-13T12:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/juremonia.am\/33015\/"},"modified":"2022-10-27T11:04:31","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T11:04:31","slug":"33015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juremonia.am\/en\/33015\/","title":{"rendered":"Capacity Building of the NGOs on Justice Sector monitoring of the Republic of Armenia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"HY\">On September 27-30, 2022,<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> within <\/span><span lang=\"HY\">the<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">framework<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> of Juremonia project (funded by the EU<\/span> <span lang=\"EN-US\">) <\/span><span lang=\"HY\">was conducted a four-day training course with the <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">coaching<\/span><span lang=\"HY\"> of<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">international experts<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">.\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"HY\">The direct beneficiaries of the training were 40 representatives of<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">about 20 non-governmental organizations of the Republic of Armenia. Before the start<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">of the trainings, the coordinating body of the project (the Netherlands Helsinki<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">Committee, Penal Reform International, Social Justice NGO, Civil Society Institute<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">NGO) had designed and developed the complete list of goals and tasks of the trainings,<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">requirements, organizational and methodical characteristics, results of the evaluation. In<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">order to organize the trainings more objectively, effectively and target-oriented, the<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">specialists of the Social Justice <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">NGO <\/span><span lang=\"HY\">had developed a needs-assessment questionnaire and<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">the inclusion of the participants (lawyers, psychologists, social workers, trainers,<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">experts, heads of the organization, analysts, legal advisors)<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">in the trainings had been<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">done based on the analysis of that <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">tool<\/span><span lang=\"HY\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"HY\">The trainings have been conducted in 3 directions:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"HY\">Penitentiary and Probation sector reforms (trainer: Mr. Rob Allen, moderators:\u00a0<\/span>Ms. Tsira Chanturia, Arshak Gasparyan),<\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"HY\">Judicial and Anti-Corruption reforms (trainer: Ms. Lydeke Schakel, moderator:\u00a0<\/span>Artak Kirakosyan)<\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"HY\">Police reforms (trainer: Ms.A\u00efcha Chaghouani, moderator: Ms. Hester van\u00a0<\/span>Omeren)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"HY\">The main goal of the trainings was to transfer such skills to the representatives of the\u00a0<\/span>involved NGOs, thanks to which they will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>develop data collection methods<\/li>\n<li>collect, manage and analyze sector monitoring data,<\/li>\n<li>create a sectoral monitoring system,<\/li>\n<li>analyze national and international documents in the context of reforms,<\/li>\n<li>predict expected results and make recommendations among decision makers,<\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"HY\">define a common goal, create a coalition and highlight the process of<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">developing a joint strategy for advocacy,<\/span><\/li>\n<li>make changes using stakeholder mapping, policy reform facilitation methods,<\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"HY\">\u00a0use the knowledge obtained to develop projects, apply for small grant programs\u00a0<\/span>and implement them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"HY\">The topics presented during the trainings were reconstructed and expanded through team work,<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">quizzes and presentations.\u00a0<\/span>The general picture of the opinions emphasized after the trainings is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"HY\">The participants reflection on the achievements:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"HY\">increased motivation for the work to be<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">done in the corresponding sector, increase in the evaluation of own strengths and<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">abilities, effectiveness of group activities, possibility of contacts with sector experts,<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">enabling the consolidation of civil society organizations around a common idea, the<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">opportunity to study strategies highlighting the importance of advocacy work, the ability<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">to use monitoring data in the process of policy development, the opportunity to learn the<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">international norms, the need to develop communication skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"HY\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"HY\">Participants expect\/recommend:<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><span lang=\"HY\">More opportunities to participate in such trainings, organization of similar courses in the\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"HY\">future, need to study the experience of other<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">countries, a more comprehensive study of the current situation in RA by experts, and<\/span> <span lang=\"HY\">the
