On September 30, 2022, <\/span>after <\/span>four-day <\/span>trainings aimed at<\/span> capacity building <\/span>of<\/span> NGOs on Justice Reform of RA <\/span>\u00a0held within the framework of the <\/span>project <\/span>“<\/span>J<\/span>ustice<\/span> Reform Monitoring<\/span> in Armenia” funded by the EU <\/span>a Memorandum of Understanding was signed<\/span> \u00a0by civil society organizations <\/span>to <\/span>establish<\/span> a JUREMONIA PLATFORM <\/span>for advocacy of<\/span> Justice Sector R<\/span>eforms in Armenia<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The goal of the Platform is to have a real contribution and influence of NGOs in Justice Sector reforms through the research and studies, monitoring, advocacy, and dialogue with decision makers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Before signing<\/span> the Memorandum<\/span>, Arshak Gasparyan, the president of Social Justice NGO, briefly presented the project <\/span>to the participants and the bodies implementing, managing and supporting it. The speaker spoke in more detail about one of the target actions of the project, the prerequisites for the creation of a justice sector reform platform, and the need to consolidate existing resources in this area. <\/span>It was suggested <\/span>to <\/span>strengthen <\/span>jointly <\/span>the dialogue between the government and civil society, to have a direct contribution and influence <\/span>on <\/span>conceptual and strategic sectorial and document processing processes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

4<\/span> directions of activity of the Platform were <\/span>established: <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

1. Legal and judicial reforms<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

2. <\/span>Prison<\/span> and Probation Sector Reforms<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

3. Police <\/span>R<\/span>eforms<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

4. Anti-<\/span>C<\/span>orruption reforms<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Arshak Gasparyan also detailed some issues of the organization of <\/span>Platform<\/span> activity<\/span>. In particular, <\/span>the <\/span>Secretar<\/span>y of<\/span>Platform which will be<\/span> in charge of <\/span>coordinating the issues on the Platform’s agenda, members’ participation, publicizing the Platform’s activities, etc <\/span>and will be run<\/span> by the “Social Justice” NGO for the next four years<\/span>. <\/span>Taking into account the highly active processes currently underway in various branches of the justice sector, an agreement was reached to meet at least once a month. <\/span>I<\/span>n order to make the work more effective and systematic, <\/span>the Platform<\/span> will have four working groups named after the above-mentioned directions, where the most trained and experienced organizations or organizations with similar interests will be included.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At the end of the event, representatives of 17 organizations signed the memorandum. With a view to more NGOs <\/span>engaged in the work<\/span> of the <\/span>P<\/span>latform, the Memorandum will also be circulated among other organizations <\/span>active in the Justice Sector<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
